On July 27, the New Zealand-China Education Partnership Showcase and Transnational Education (TNE) Mini Forum was held at the New Zealand Embassy in Beijing. The event was attended by Penny Simmonds, New Zealand’s Minister for Tertiary Education, Jonathan Austin, New Zealand Ambassador to China, representatives of Education New Zealand Manapou ki te Ao, and delegates from more than 100 educational institutions across China and New Zealand. Chu Fumin, Member of the CPC Zaozhuang University Committee and vice‑president of Zaozhuang University, was invited to attend the event.

The event featured two sessions: a showcase of partnership achievements and an exchange of experience on transnational education. Eleven New Zealand institutes of technology and polytechnics (ITPs) presented case studies on Sino‑foreign cooperative education programs and exchanged ideas on innovative models for transnational talent development.

During the event, Chu Fumin held a dedicated meeting with Warwick Pitts, chief executive of Waikato Institute of Technology (Wintec). Chu outlined the university’s application-oriented educational approach and its international engagement strategy, and reviewed the foundation of their previous cooperation. The two parties held in-depth discussions on student and faculty exchanges, faculty development programs, mutual recognition of credits, and joint talent development initiatives. Warwick Pitts expressed confidence in the prospects for bilateral collaboration and hoped that the two institutions would establish a regular coordination mechanism.

The event provided Zaozhuang University with a valuable platform for educational cooperation with New Zealand institutions. Looking ahead, the university will act on the consensus reached during the talks, accelerate the implementation of collaborative programs with Wintec, and further enhance the internationalization of its education.
